This looks like the barber college across the street from the Trailways bus station at 500 west Adams street.
From ninth grade through twelfth, I earned all my expenses delivering 306 papers for the Florida Times Union at 3:30 a.m. When I got a haircut, this was the place I came. I still remember the students who cut it said every time would say,
“He likes it tapered in the back, like this.” And someone I could not see, would think it was amazing. Today, it is probably out of style for most youth. The price was .50. The years were 1952-56. My dad was manager of Claude Nolan’s Cadillac on the Main Street and I went to school with Mary Ann Hardage, (one of the daughters of Hardage and Son’s Funeral Home on Main.) in the fourth grade at West Riverside Grammar. The teacher was Mrs. Cooper and the principal was Mr. King in his first year. Before then, Mrs. Hughes was the principal.
In my college years, I brought home four girls (Fulbright Scholarship students) from Bethany College in W.Va. They were from Argentina, France, and North and South Austria. I aske Hayden Burns, the Governor, for some help and he said to “show this letter around the State” and I would get all of us in free and I did and we did! He then arranged for us to water ski on the St. Johns River Christmas Day and we used Rudy Vallee’s boat! Black swimsuits and skies were provided as well as black sweaters!

No pics were taken. Gov. Hayden Burns found friends on the st johns river to provide skiis and black sweaters. It was Christmas Day. The 4 girls stayed at our small house (1528 Orr Drive.) estates. One morning, Didi Hoffman, Northern Austria came to breakfast all bent over: “What’s the matter, Didi?” he replied, “Not enough skin!” We were at the beach 9 miles away yesterday! At the beach, we were lying down. A car slowly drove up. Christina Marie Bobbio, (Argentina) said with a low voice to me: “Mahveene, Vaht eef I geeve dem de tongue?” I replied: He will probably take it!” Then, I could see her stomach bouncing up and down as she giggled. The man in the car was my brother, Bobby, trying to scare us.
