“Another view of the Jacksonville Skyline from the Gibbs Shipyard on the Southside.  I waited for the bridge to go up to get this unusual  view.  8X10 Camera. 1950’s.” LS

Wasn’t aware Jacksonville had a bridge that would raise to allow for river traffic. Wouldn’t it have been cost effective to build it initially to accommodate for river traffic? I’m sure those hydraulics to raise the bridge are not cheap and maintenance on them is not cheap. Sometimes I think our leaders to not think clearly before they act. Could it be that they know more money will be required later if “cost saving” technology is used in the beginning? The mark of a true fiscal conservative is looking 20 years ahead instead of at the present time.
