A photograph of city bus signage. I’ll go out on a limb and say they really wanted you to ride the bus but did not want to pay for quality advertising to get you to do it.

A night scene of a Budweiser beer billboard in an unknown location. No date is included with this photograph but this label style went into use by Budweiser in the 1940’s and was not changed until around 1960 so the sign predates the Jacksonville brewery which began construction in 1967.

“This picture was taken at the farmers market on West Beaver Street. It was taken for the Bing Company, the sign tells it all. 40’s.” LS This was about the same time that window unit air conditioners first started becoming available to cool homes. A window display showing “Costumes & Corsetry from Elizabeth I to Elizabeth II from the Formfit Collection of Historical Figurines” according to the sign behind the dolls of various queens and their undergarments. I’m sure Queen Elizabeth II would approve of the label under her figurine, “Majesty, youth, beauty and glamor combine themselves in this […]

PM Deluxe Blended Whiskey sports themed store display from the early 1950’s. I could not find a lot of information about the brand except the name is one of the stable of products owned by Beam Global Spirits and Wine, Inc. the company that started life as Jim Beam. There are a lot of examples […]

The staff of Florida Bonded Pools on Beach Blvd. circa early 1960’s in front of the business and their wonderful sign of world famous swimmer and movie star Esther Williams in all of her 30 foot tall glory. I stopped by the business to find out more about the sign and had a great conversation […]
