I’m going to go out on a limb and say this was shot in the 1960’s judging from some of the cars in the photo.

This had to be shot in the very late 50s or very early 60s, by that time, the old roller coaster had been closed for about 20 years, but there was the Wild Mouse behind it. The arcades were great, filled with antique machines. Great place to take a date.
Why did Jacksonville Beach (along with 3 or 4 other smaller municipalities in Duval County) not want to go along with the 1967 Consolidation effort? Was it to spite the kingmakers of Jacksonville, or did they see a tax savings by remaining an autonomous entity within the Consolidation. Why could they not be proud to be part of the largest geographical city in the world when the City of Jacksonville and the County of Duval consolidated?
