Women’s wrestling from the late 1940’s or early 1950’s inside the arena at Main and Beaver Streets that promoter Jimmy Murdock used for a variety of events before moving into the Jacksonville Coliseum. I’m looking for any picture of Gracie Kato “K Starr, the Texas Tornado.” She is my grandmother and raised me. She was a professional wrestler in the 50. I will be very grateful for any advice or information that you may have. She used to wrestle with a Chimp named “Elmer” as a gimmick. She trained him to wait in the corner and when the opponent was pushed toward him, he would scream and pull her hair. I would love to see a picture. Thank you.
I would also love to see a photo of that! Most of the wrestling photographs in the Loyd Sandgren collection were part of the circuit of wrestlers that worked the South East and particularly Florida/Georgia rotation. There are serious fans of vintage professional wrestling around the country and there is a Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame. You may want to contact that organization and I would bet with their network they can help you find photos of your grandmother and perhaps one with Elmer. Good Luck.
Looking for info / history on Lady wrestler from 1940’s-50’s Mrs. Shirley Wicks ( not related to but worked with played as William Wicks sister ) also may have had stage name of Princess Tanya.

The young wrestler doing the tossing and lacing her boots is believed to have gone on to wrestling stardom as Judy Glover.
