“The Baptist Hospital & The Prudential Buildings being built. You can see downtown Jacksonville in the background.” LS Both the Baptist Hospital and The Prudential Insurance buildings opened in 1955 so this photograph would have been taken a year or so prior.

Topping off the Independent Square building which was completed in 1974. An earlier version of the building’s construction can be seen here. The building just underwent it’s latest name change with the Wells Fargo logo added to the top of the building which is now named the Wells Fargo Center.

Jacksonville’s New City Hall in the final stages of construction. According to the sign on the construction fence, “Another Great Stride in Jacksonville’s Progress.” “This is the Jacksonville, Florida City Hall just before it was dedicated. 1960. Note how clear the sky was in those days.” LS

One of the numerous incarnations of this particular block of downtown Jacksonville over the years. This was probably for the construction of old Robert Meyer Hotel, the Woolworth and J.C. Penney buildings. The site currently hosts the Federal Courthouse Complex.
