Black Dress And Fishnet Stockings

“This photo was taken in my studio when I was on 22 East Beaver St.  The girl was a stripper, in fact at that time I did many of those girls.  My reputation as a stripper photographer was well known even as far away as New York.”  LS

Veteran’s Funeral

Sadly there is no information on this photograph which appears to be a veteran’s coffin on display in a family’s home. Flowers crowd the small room and “My Buddy” is written on one flower display’s ribbon. Two portraits of the deceased are in view.  One sits atop the 48 star flag that shrouds the coffin. […]

To The Year Ahead!

While not the Baby New Year, she is close to being in her birthday suit.  This unnamed young lady was found in one of two albums of photographs by Loyd Sandgren entitled Nudes.  None are particularly shocking but a number, due to the passage of time have high camp appeal.  I don’t know the status […]

Bags Packed And Ready To Go

I have not figured out if this is an advertising photo for luggage or a portrait of an airline stewardess shot by Loyd Sandgren in his downtown Jacksonville studio.  Loyd did not leave any clues with this one.  Anyone recognize the logos on the uniform?

Stripper Promo Photo Redux

A full length view of a previously featured strip tease artist in all of her feathered and sequined glory photographed in one of Loyd Sandgren’s downtown Jacksonville studios.  I think the cigarette in the cigarette holder adds a real touch of class!

Happy Halloween!

Stripper Promo Photo, 1950’s

“This is just one of the many strippers that I had the pleasure of taking pictures of.  This was taken in 1953 and she ordered many prints including 20 x 30’s and 30 x 40’s which I made in my darkroom.  It was taken in my studio on 22 E. Beaver St.  I must have […]

Lacing Up

Studio portrait of an unidentified female professional wrestler.  One of the only wrestler photos I’ve seen in the Loyd Sandgren collection that was not shot at an event.

Portrait Of Loyd Sandgren, Tallahassee, FL 1946

This is one of my favorite photos of Loyd taken after he got out of the Navy in Jacksonville.  He went to work for the Florida State Advertising Commission in Tallahassee, FL for about a year before returning to Jacksonville where he stayed the rest of his life. “A photo of Loyd Sandgren in Tallahassee, […]
